Perils of Wonder Babe III

Project Stinger  Part 1

Darlene Phantom  drove her two seater Porsche through the narrow winding West Virginia mountains towards Charleston. It would have been much quicker by changing to her alter ego Wonder Babe, but she was having more fun by driving her new roadster with the top down and her brunett hair blowing in the wind. "Oops...I'm going to need some gas soon." She noticed the gas gauge showing near empty. As soon as the young computer executive said that, a gas station appeared around the next curve. "Well, that's lucky." She thought, and pulled into the run down place, to drive up next to the lone pump.

"Can I hep ya ma'am?" A young man with short blond hair approached the Porsche from behind.

Darlene was startled by the man's grimey appearance. He was very tall and muscular with a weeks worth of beard and filthy overalls. "Fill it up, please." She replied and then asked. "Do you have a rest room?"

"Over there ma'am." He pointed to a little shack next to a rickity barn.

Darlene entered the shack and was pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness. However, she didn't notice the two hidden cameras aimed at her.

Jeb eyed the young woman as she exited the shack and walked towards her car. He looked longingly at her tight jean shorts, her long curvy legs that wore skin tight calf length black boots, and a white blouse that was opened enough for the young man to envy those two large breasts. "That'll be fifty bucks ma'am." Jeb insisted.

Darkene handed him three twentys, and waited for the grease covered young man to return with the change. "Is there someplace to stay for the night? Looks like a storm coming." She pointed to the gathering clouds in the distance.

"There's the Wayward Inn about ten miles down the road." Jeb replied. "Wow, did ya see that one?" He referred to a lightning bolt in the distance. "Gonna be a big 'un." He proclaimed.

Darlene climbed into the small Porsche turned on the engine and roared out of the gas station onto the narrow two lane asphalt highway.

Jeb watched with envy as the little red roadster disappeared around the bend. "Sure would like to have that one." He said.

"Do you mean the girl or the car?" Job asked from behind his twin brother. "I got an answer from the face recognition software, and you won't like it." He declared. "She's a computer expert at the Foundation."

Jeb smiled at his brother. "Let's make sure she goes to the Inn." He climbed aboard the big tow truck, while Job took the jeep.

Darlene watched the Thunder caps approaching, heard the thunder roar and the lightning flashing. then noticed a large flat truck grill in her rear view mirror. "What's he doing?" She wondered , when the truck turned on his bright lights, to nearly blind her. She tried to speed away, but the truck stayed close behind. "Have to get him off my bumper or I'll crash going around one of these sharp turns." Darlene sped off to the side of the road, and the truck went into reverse to park several yards away.

"Job are you there?" Jeb radioed his brother.

"I'm on the knoll just above her, little brother." Job replied. "You think she'll get out?"

"Oh yeah...As a matter of fact I see her now, looking back at me....Do you have a shot?" Jeb asked.

"Not yet, she's got the car between me." Job kept his scope pointed at the woman. "Why is she dancing around" Job nearly dropped the tranquilizer rifle, when the woman disappeared in a sudden flash of light. "WOW! Did you see that?"

Jeb's headlight's highlighted the transformation and he could hardly believe his eyes. He spotted a tall muscular woman dressed in a scanty costume, where the other woman had been only a moment before. "What just happened?"

Wonder Babe was next to the truck in a flash. She opened the driver side door to pull Jeb out onto the road. "Don't know what you're up to, but it's over....UNDERSTAND?" She went back to the side of the car in the blink of an eye, and then flew up to where Job was transfixed. She bent down to pick up the rifle. "You won't need this." The heroine declared as she tossed the weapon deep in the forest. She flew back to the Porsche, transformed back to her Darlene personna, and sped on down the road.

Jeb radioed his brother.
"What just happened Bro?"

"I dunno, but I need a drink." Job replied, and drove back to the gas station just as the rain started.

Darlene was having a hard time seeing through the pelting rain, and was barely able to notice a faded wooden sign designating the entrance to the Wayward Inn. The driveway was gravel with tall grass weeds sprouting up all along till she reached the front door to the old gray frame building. She ran the short distance from the car to the wrap around porch, and was drenched, when she arrived at the large oak double doors. "Never seen it rain so hard." She rapped on the door with the huge brass knocker.

The right side opened to reveal a tall slim man dressed in black. His face was gaunt and he had a long pointed nose. "May I help you Madam?"

"I'm looking for a place to stay for the night." Darlene stood there, looking very much like a drowned rat.

"Please come into the parlor, and sit by the fire." The man towered over the tall Darlene, who followed him into the large parlor with magnificent paintings covering each wall. Igor then brought his new guest some hot coffee. "Anything else Madam? Mrs White will be here to welcome you in just a moment."

Darlene noticed the man had provided cream and sugar for the coffee, so she poured a cup and started to sip the welcome brew. Within minutes Darlene began to feel strange. "Ohhhh..what's happening?" Her head started spinning. "The coffee...somthins in the cofffeee...uhhhh." Darlene dropped the cup, slid from the over stuffed chair, and slipped into unconsciousness.
